Tragically, I lost my mom to cancer in April 2022 while going through cancer treatment of my own. My grief made it very difficult for me to embrace my passion for art and continue my small business. I needed to reflect and heal. As time passed, I decided to channel my grief into something meaningful.
My mom and I always had coffee together. She was the most thoughtful person. Over the years, I kept her cards with handwritten notes. I envisioned making a coffee mug with her sweet words in her handwriting. So I did! I dove headfirst into ceramics, self taught with the aid of artists’ in YouTube videos. My skills have improved since my initial versions. I now incorporate ocean like effects to my pottery, all Inspired by my mom. I am on my way!
My grandfather has also inspired me to be an artist. In August 2023, when my grandmother passed away, I wanted to help my grandfather through his grief. I thought, what better time to ask him to teach me his artistic skill. Stained Glass! He’s been creating his stained glass pieces for over 40 years. He taught me the artistry of a beautiful old art form. We bonded and healed together.
